Yeso Elementary Programs
We recognize that not all students have the same needs and requirements. Keeping with our motto of “Whatever it takes. Our kids are worth it,” we have implemented several programs to help us address the specific learning requirements of all our students.
Discovery Center
Yeso is equipped with a Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation STEM Center located in the Discovery Center made possible by the generosity of local donors. The Discovery Center is where the New Mexico STEM Ready science standards and science curricula (Mystery Science, Elevate, and Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation STEM curriculum) come to life!
Discovery Centers are collaborative spaces for small groups of students to work together to complete intellectually engaging activities. The centers are equipped with supplies to perform exciting experiments and hands-on technology to engineer student designs. Lessons are put in the hands of Artesia students for them to ask questions, imagine ideas, design solutions, test concepts, improve designs, and share their results.
Ask your student what’s happening in their Discovery STEM Center!
Library
Yeso Elementary has an exceptional library for its students. For more information on this program please visit our Library page.
ESL
We encourage students who come from non-English speaking families to participate in our English as a Second Language (ESL) program. We provide resources, tutoring, and helpful tools, as our instructors work to help your child. Please contact us if you need a referral.
Special Education
We want every child to succeed and enjoy the experience of an education. Our caring special education staff works to enable and guide students who require special attention and care.
Special Instructional Programs/Section 504
Each qualified student within the district who is eligible to receive regular or special education or related aids or services, regardless of the nature or severity of the condition necessitating such programs or services, shall receive free appropriate education in the district. Visit our Special Instructional Programs/Section 504 page on our district website for more information.
Title I
Yeso Elementary is a New Mexico Title I school. This means that we receive financial assistance to support programs designed to support the needs of students who come from low-income families. These programs serve to enrich our curriculum and provide exciting opportunities and activities for our students. For more information, please visit our district site.
