Clubs and Activities

We encourage students to explore and participate in activities that interest them. This learning and social interaction helps students develop the confidence, skills, and talents necessary to guide them as they make important choices.

Yearbook

Students enrolled in this fun, fast-paced, and challenging course take on the responsibility of designing and publishing the yearbook. We prefer that students have a background or interest in at least one of the following areas: photography, desktop publishing, art and design, or written language.

Students learn skills such as organization, time management, and teamwork, as they strive to produce high quality work. We expect yearbook students to work together in groups, handle the pressure of deadlines, and spend additional time outside of the class working on the publication.

We require students to obtain a teacher referral prior to enrollment. In addition, we also require a signed contract from the students and their parents regarding eligibility and behavior.

Student Council

Students at Artesia Intermediate School have the opportunity to participate on the student council. This service organization is comprised of an elected president from each homeroom classroom. The student council meets to discuss school business and plan various projects.

Assemblies

We schedule educational and entertaining assemblies throughout the year. Participation in assemblies introduces students to proper audience etiquette. We will not tolerate disrespectful behavior such as talking, whispering, whistling, or booing.

School Trips

We require all students who go on a school trip to have a signed permission slip and medical authorization on file in the office. Students must earn the right to participate in school trips by demonstrating positive behavior habits and satisfactory academic performance.
